Scheduling Coordinator - Surgery

SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Assistant OR Manager, the Scheduling Coordinator is responsible and accountable for working hand in hand with both affiliated and non-affiliated physician's offices as well as other hospital departments to schedule patients for all types of Peri-operative procedures/testing. The scheduling of appointments with Pre-surgical Testing may occur as the result of all of the following: electronic orders received, faxed orders received and phone call orders received. The scheduler functions as a liaison between physician's offices and Peri-operative units of the hospital to ensure excellence in care is maintained throughout the continuum of care. Must be able to use the scheduling software to schedule procedures accurately. Other duties include timekeeping, call-schedule submission to Dispatch, and daily reports.

BAXTER HEALTH COMPLIANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

Understands and adheres to Baxter Health standards as they appear in Healthstream Policy Manager.

Required to work with the Director of Surgery regularly to carryout, initiate and/or implement best practices for the Baxter Health Peri-Operative Department.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.

Experience: 12 to 18 months related healthcare and/or customer service.

Other: Preferred applicant will have a working knowledge of medical terminology and computer skills. Adaptability to multiple systems is essential. Basic computer skills required.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a position in a hospital setting which is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Office staff: 5 days a week, Monday - Friday, 8 hour shifts
